Gratitude is something that should come naturally, but sometimes it can be difficult to think of things to be thankful for. Especially when things are going wrong.

During these moments, it is important to be able to shift your focus from what is wrong to what is right.

The thoughts you think affect your feelings, which in turn influence your actions. So if you are feeling bad and seeing bad results, then try revisiting your thoughts.

As you shift your focus from the negative to the positive, you will begin to feel better and become more aware of the good things in your life rather than the bad.

Here are some tips for finding gratitude in the midst of difficulty.

  1. Make a list – What are you grateful for? After you write it down, post it somewhere that you can see every day as a reminder of your blessings.
  2. Reach out to someone and let them know that you appreciate them. – Everyone likes to feel special. The positive energy you send out will come back to you.
  3. Say a prayer – When you have no one else to talk to, say a quick prayer of thanksgiving. Have a quiet moment of reflection and meditate on the good.
  4. Walk in nature – Find a peaceful place in nature. Observe how the animals move freely and stress-free. Allow the calming energy in.
  5. Recite positive affirmations – Stand in front of the mirror and compliment yourself. Notice what makes you special and be thankful for it all.

Doing these simple things daily will increase the flow of positive energy in your life as well as train your mind to be more appreciative and open.
