How to Keep Going Even When You’re Tired

Life can get heavy at times, and sometimes it’s a struggle to keep going. Even though things may seem tough, be encouraged that there are a few simple actions that you can take to help you stay on track.

  1. Stop doing too much. Many times we tire ourselves out by taking on too much. Look at your commitments and things that you have volunteered for. Are there any areas or activities that you can clear off your schedule to make breathing room? Sometimes it’s not that things are overwhelming; it’s just that you’re overextended.
  2. Be honest. Take a moment to be honest with yourself. Reflect on how you got to this place of exhaustion and what ways you can do better. Every day is a chance for growth and realignment. As you practice this, you will begin to drop bad habits and increase positive and productive ones.
  3. Speak up. That’s what friends are for! If no one knows your needs, they can’t help you meet them. Reach out for help when you need it. Show up authentically. Although it may be uncomfortable at first, the more you honor yourself and trust your relationships, the faster you will be able to get back on your feet.
  4. Find time for you. In the middle of everything that is going on around you, you need to make sure you make time for yourself. If you aren’t healthy, then you will be less productive and more likely to feel burned out and stressed. Find something you enjoy doing and do it.
  5. Say a prayer. When you don’t have anyone else to depend on, activate your faith. Lean in to the fact that you can’t do it all, but with a little hope that better is coming, you can make it through.
  6. Celebrate your wins. Every small step counts. The more you realize just how much you are capable of based on all that you’ve already accomplished, the greater your ability to move forward becomes. It feels good to pat yourself on the back. Use that motivation to keep on going.
